WEET How To Replace WMF MKP Crossover Capacitors In Speakers?

When the low ESR MKP audio capacitor in your home speaker fails and stops working, do you know how to replace it yourself?

  1. Identify the Matching low ESR MKP audio capacitor Specifications

    Record the parameters of the original crossover low ESR MKP audio capacitor.

  2. Prepare Tools and Protective Gear

    Tools: Desoldering pump, screwdriver, etc.

    Protective Gear: Anti-static wristband, heat-resistant gloves, safety goggles.

  3. Disconnect Power Safely and Disassemble

    Disconnect all connections to the capacitor to ensure no power is supplied. Unscrew the speaker cabinet and carefully remove the capacitor.

  4. Assemble and Test 

    Place the new low ESR MKP audio capacitor in the original position and solder the joints with a soldering iron. After soldering, reinstall the crossover capacitor module into the cabinet and reconnect the speaker to the power amplifier.

    Play audio of different frequency bands to test if the low ESR MKP audio capacitor is functioning properly.

The WMF MKP capacitors in the figure are 0.1 μF, 2.2 μF, 2.7 μF, 5.6 μF, 7.5 μF, 8.2 μF and 10 μF.
